The rich Wild Duck open star cluster Messier 11 stands out prominently in this great image, created by David Malin from photographic plates taken with the 3.9-meter Anglo-Australian Telescope.
Note the bright yellow and red stars, which are intermediate-aged giants. Their occurance suggests that the cluster must have an age of several hundred million years.
