[M14, KPNO]

This picture of globular cluster M14 was made from CCD images taken at the KPNO 0.9-meter telescope in April of 1998. Image size 11.6 arc minutes. A somewhat loose globular cluster, with a very small ellipticity, M14 appears in the constellation Ophiuchus. About 30,000 light-years away, it is about 100 light-years across, with a denser part measuring about 75 ly.

    IR image of globular cluster Messier 14, taken with the 2MASS IR telescopes. Image field is 6.2' x 6.2'. This is a false-color IR image coding different IR wavelength bands into colors, with coolest/longest red and "hottest" or warmest/shortest blue.
