Looking like a dark comet (actually a black comet in the photograph in this page), Barnard 93 obscures parts of the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud, M24. It is one of the first dark nebulae known, discovered in 1913 by E.E. Barnard (Barnard 1913).
Martin Germano obtained this beautiful photograph of the dark nebula Barnard 93 in the northern portion of star cloud M24. This photo was taken with Martin's 14.5" f/5 Newtonian stopped to f6(12"), 80 minutes on hypered Kodak Tech Pan 2415 film in April, 2002.
This nice Dark Lane (4 Co G) is on the edge of a Galactic Star Cloud in Sagittarius, M 24. It is only about 20 minutes east of the more impressive (6 E G) dark lane called B 92. Barnard 93 is centered at 18h 16m 54s -18d 04m 00s.
